about

Six years after the release of their debut, Talibam! & Alan Wilkinson are pleased to present their sophomore album, It is Dangerous To Lean Out (E Pericoloso Sporgersi)!

Available as a limited edition cassette from Astral Spirits, It is Dangerous features two volcanic performances from the Sant’anna Arresi Jazz Festival in Sardinia, Italy. Side A’s If I Had A Hammer captures the trio performing on New Year’s Eve 2014 with a no holds barred assault on sonic morality that blasted the audience deep into 2015’s multi-dimensional orgy of gluttonous debauchery. Side B’s Ring The Bell was recorded in August 2013 to a massive outdoor audience of children, enamored adults and a sizable gathering of feral teenage girls. No supplements were required as the trio’s testosterone level was literally off the charts.

Talibam! & Alan Wilkinson first met in the Spring of 2008 when PAN Records founder Bill Kouligas brought the trio together for a debut London performance. This introductory meeting went as expected…maidens were swooned, the Queen led a standing ovation, and the sky bled a bile-infused poison suitable to unsettle multiple generations to come.

Bo’Weavil Recordings caught on to the impending apocalypse and brought Talibam! & Alan Wilkinson together near London to record what was to become their debut LP, Dem Ol’ Apple Pie Melodies (2010). The album was met with much critical acclaim, even finding its way onto Wire Magazine’s Top 10 Jazz Releases of the year. Throughout a European tour following their debut, the trio fermented their bond like vigilante cowboys Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid after a successful robbing of the Union Pacific Railroad.

Talibam! & Alan Wilkinson will officially release It Is Dangerous To Lean Out (E Pericoloso Sporgersi) on July 24th, 2016 at the Konfrontationen Festival in Nickelsdorf, Austria, where they will find themselves billed with incredibly strong company including Mats Gustaffson, Matthew Ship, Thomas Lehn, John Butcher and many more icons of creative music.

Talibam! is a 13 year working unit featuring Kevin Shea (a drummer who perpetually inspires clones to reevaluate that which they take for granted) and Matt Mottel (a keyboardist who stacks his synth tone through expert speedy hand manipulation). They are a rhythm section that is at the cross hair of agility, speed, punctuation and intention — a perfect pairing for Alan Wilkinson’s vigilant overthrow of normative music. Wilkinson is the strongest possessor of fire tone, blue notes and saxophone gallantry — his napalm sonics wake up all the sleepy horn blowers. A longtime veteran of UK’s legendary jazz cabal, Wilkinson breathes menacing commitment to the ghoulish moment of now. Talibam! & Alan Wilkinson play music bound by curiosity — brutalizing cliche without bolstering any dominant dogmatic idiom — ready to till the local agricultural dynamics for all organic food munch.
